28 лютого близько 19 години на лінію 101 надійшло повідомлення про пожежу в селі Подвірне Новоселицького району. Як з’ясувалося, пожежа виникла у житловому будинку, де мешкав 81-річний чоловік.
За попередньою інформацією, до загорання призвела необережність власника під час паління. Пожежу помітили родичі, котрі проживали у сусідньому будинку. Вони викликали рятувальників і, намагаючись врятувати життя пенсіонеру, увійшли всередину будинку та вивели чоловіка звідти. Господаря дому із опіками госпіталізували до реанімаційного відділення Новоселицької центральної районної лікарні. На жаль, всі спроби врятувати йому життя виявилися марними. 81-річний власник будинку помер у лікарні.
Зважаючи на те, що площа пожежі була незначною, її було ліквідовано силами місцевих пожежних команд сіл Мамалига та Подвірне до прибуття рятувальників з міста Новоселиця.
