Напередодні Нового року стався трагічний випадок у держлісфонді державного підприємства «Берегометське лісомисливське господарство». 30 грудня 2020 року в результаті нещасного випадку в лісі загинув 28-річний житель с. Бережонки Вижницького району. Подробиці події нині встановлюють правоохоронці.

За попередньою інформацією, під час самовільного звалювання дерева на території Вашківецького лісництва, молодому чоловікові завдала травм, несумісних з життям, гілка, яка зламалась під натиском падаючого дерева.
Чернівецьке обласне управління лісового і мисливського господарства офіційно повідомляє, що особа, яка загинула в лісі, не є працівником жодного з лісогосподарських підприємств краю і рубку проводила самовільно та незаконно. З приводу загибелі молодого чоловіка внесено відомості до єдиного реєстру досудових розслідувань. Ведеться слідство.
