Статистична організація Європейської Комісії оприлюднила звіт про міграцію у 2019 році громадян країн. Згідно з ними, найпопулярнішим напрямком трудової міграції серед держав-членів ЄС стала Польща, а найбільше іноземців, які їдуть працювати в ЄС, з України.
За даними Євростату, 757 тисяч українців отримали перші посвідки на проживання в країнах-членах ЄС у 2019 році, що робить їх найбільшою групою громадянства серед всіх одержувачів. Майже чотири з п’яти дозволів було видано Польщею. На другому та третьому місцях ідуть громадяни Марокко (133 000 дозволів, з яких 47% були видані в Іспанії) та Індії (131 000, з яких 19% в Німеччині). Для переважної більшості українців (87%) поїздка до ЄС торік була пов’язана саме з працевлаштуванням.
Крім цього, у 2019 році приблизно 3 млн громадян країн, що не є членами ЄС, отримали свій перший тривалий дозвіл на перебування в Євросоюзі (довгострокові візи та тимчасові карти перебування максимум до 3 років). Це на 6% більше, ніж у 2018 році. При цьому найбільша частина із цих людей приїхали до ЄС з метою працевлаштування (41%). Це значно більше, ніж за сімейними обставинами (27%) чи з метою навчання (14%).
За підрахунками на душу населення, то найбільше іноземців прийняли до себе невеликі Мальта та Кіпр. А серед великих країн Євросоюзу лідером стала Польща, куди торік попрямував кожний четвертий новий мігрант з-поза меж ЄС (724 тисяч). Торік найпопулярнішими були Німеччина та Франція.
За даними МЗС Польщі, у 2019 році польські консульства видали українцям майже 900 тис. віз, з яких 895,7 тис. – національних. Це дещо на понад 20 тис. більше ніж у 2018 році.
