Увечері 16 червня на лінію 101 подзвонили мешканці села Ленківці Кельменецького району та повідомили, що горить будинок їх сусіда. 28-річний чоловік проживав там один. Про це йдеться на сайті Управління ДСНС України у Чернівецькій області.
На момент виявлення пожежі вогонь охопив практично усю споруду та дістався перекриття, площа пожежі становила 50 кв. м. За викликом на місце події прибув черговий караул 10 державної пожежно-рятувальної частини смт Кельменців. Оскільки у житловому будинку утворилося щільне задимлення, під час ліквідації пожежі рятувальники працювали у спеціальних апаратах захисту органів дихання та зору.
Провівши розвідку в будинку, вогнеборці виявили в кімнаті тіло власника. На жаль, через пізнє виявлення пожежі врятувати життя чоловіку було неможливо. На даний час тіло чоловіка було направлено на судово-медичну експертизу м. Сокиряни для встановлення причини смерті. За попередніми висновками фахівців, причиною трагічної пожежі стало необережне поводження з вогнем власника будинку .
