Вчені знайшли частинки вірусу в очах італійської пацієнтки.
Жінка, яка була першою пацієнткою з COVID-19 в Італії, мала вірусні частинки в очах ще довго після того, як інфекція зникла з її носа.
Про це пише Fox News з попсиланням на дослідження італійських вчених, як повідомляє ТСН.
23 січня 65-річна жінка вилетіла з Ухані, де виник спалах. Менш ніж через тиждень у неї почалися симптоми COVID-19, і на наступний день була госпіталізована. У пацієнтки був сухий кашель, біль у горлі, запалення слизової оболонки носа і почервоніння очей. У жінки був позитивний результат на новий коронавірус, SARS-CoV-2, і через кілька днів у неї також з’явилися лихоманка, нудота і блювота.
Медичні працівники взяли мазок з очей і виявили, що у неї в очах був генетичний матеріал коронавірусу.
“РНК SARS-CoV-2 була виявлена в очах через кілька днів після того, як вона зникла з носа», – написав дослідник в своєму звіті, опублікованому в журналі Annals of Internal Medicine 17 квітня.
“Ми виявили, що очі пацієнтів, інфікованих SARS-CoV-2, можуть містити інфекційний вірус і, отже, можуть бути потенційним джерелом інфекції, – пишуть автори. – Ці результати підкреслюють важливість заходів контролю, таких як уникнення дотику до носа, рота і очей і часте миття рук”.
За словами дослідників, очі можуть бути як джерелом вірусу, так і джерелом його поширення. Науковці попереджають про те, що офтальмологи повинні бути особливо обережними під час обстеження: “Крім того, ми спостерігали, що ураження очей SARS-CoV-2 може відбуватися на ранніх етапах курсу COVID-19, що говорить про те, що заходи щодо запобігання передачі по цьому маршруту повинні бути реалізовані якомога раніше”.
Нагадаємо, спалах нового коронавірусу розпочався з ринку морепродуктів та тварин у китайському місті Ухань. Він викликає симптоми, схожі на застуду, але швидко вражає легені й інші органи. Патоген належить до великої родини коронавірусів. Хвороба поширилася вже на десятки країн.
Всесвітня організація охорони здоров’я дала офіційну назву коронавірусній хворобі з Китаю – COVID-19. У самому Китаї її раніше назвали NCP (Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia), що означає – пневмонія, яка викликається новим типом коронавіруса. Перша вакцина від цього типу коронавірусу з’явиться не раніше, ніж через півтора року.
Схоже, джерелом спалаху коронавірусу є якась тварина. Водночас відомо, що вірус може передаватися і від людини до людини повітряно-крапельним шляхом. Є підозри, що недуга може передаватися навіть в інкубаційний період, коли носій хвороби не підозрює, що інфікований.
