Цього року через пандемію коронавірусу християни не зможуть взяти участь у літургіях у храмах, тільки онлайн.
Християни західного обряду по всьому світу, в тому числі в Україні, цієї неділі, 12 квітня, відзначають головне християнське свято Воскресіння Христового або Пасхи.

Римсько-католицька церква і велика частина протестантів, що живуть за григоріанським (сучасним) календарем, відзначають це свято на тиждень раніше, на відміну від православних чи християн східного обряду. Увечері Великої суботи в католицьких храмах проходить служба Навечір’я Пасхи, вона починається з Літургії Світу. Перед храмом священики розводять багаття, від якого священнослужитель запалює пасхал – велику пасхальну свічку. З цією свічкою священик входить в темний храм і проголошує про воскресіння Христа. Уже від Пасхалу віруючі можуть запалити свої свічки. А потім починається хресний хід навколо храму.

Великдень або Світле Христове Воскресіння – найдавніше і найважливіше християнське свято. Встановлене на честь Воскресіння Ісуса Христа, яке є центром всієї біблійної історії і основою всього християнського вчення. В даний час дата Пасхи в кожен конкретний рік обчислюється за місячно-сонячним календарем, що робить Великдень перехідним святом. Православні християни відзначатимуть свято Пасхи наступної неділі, 19 квітня.
