Процесуальне керівництво у кримінальному провадженні здійснювала Генеральна прокуратура України. Оперативний супровід – Головне управління Національної поліції в Чернівецькій області.
У разі доведення вини, правоохоронцю і його спільнику загрожує покарання у вигляді штрафу від п’ятдесяти до ста неоподатковуваних мінімумів доходів громадян або виправні роботи на строк від одного до двох років, або обмеження волі на строк до п’яти років, або позбавлення волі на строк до трьох років.
