«29 липня 2019 року до Єдиного державного реєстру юридичних осіб, фізичних осіб-підприємців та громадських об’єднань внесено запис про припинення існування релігійної організації «Патріархія Української автокефальної православної церкви» шляхом реорганізації, а саме: шляхом приєднання до релігійної організації «Київська митрополія Української православної церкви (Православної церкви України)», – йдеться в повідомленні.
15 грудня 2018 року в Києві відбувся Об’єднавчий собор, на якому було створено Православну церкву України, її очолив митрополит Київський і всієї України Епіфаній. Перед Об’єднавчим собором відбувся помісний собор, Українська православна церква Київського патріархату та УАПЦ ухвалили рішення про ліквідацію. До новоствореної церкви також приєдналися кілька ієрархів УПЦ (МП).
5 січня 2019 року Вселенський патріарх Варфоломій підписав томос про автокефалію ПЦУ, 6 січня вручив документ митрополиту Епіфанію. 3 лютого відбулася його інтронізація. 30 січня 2019 року було створено Київську митрополію Української православної церкви (Православної церкви України).
УАПЦ було створено в 1919 році, вона існувала в УРСР до 1937 року, потім існувала в 1942–1944 роках як архієпархія Польської православної церкви і була відновлена в 1990 році, об’єднавши близько 1200 парафій.
