18 березня о 14:14 на спецлінію 101 надійшло повідомлення, що у місті Новоселиця на вул. Комарова горить суха трава на відкритій території. До місця виклику направили черговий караул 11 державної пожежно-рятувальної частини міста Новоселиця. На час приїзду вогнеборців полум’я із сухої трави перекинулося на розташовану неподалік господарську будівлю, де місцевий мешканець зберігав сіно. Вогонь миттєво охопив покрівлю споруди, загальна площа пожежі склала 120 кв.м. Рятувальники ліквідували пожежу, врятувавши від знищення будівлю. Внаслідок пожежі згоріла суха трава та 6 тонн сіна. Попередня причина займання – необережне поводження з вогнем невстановленої особи.

Приблизно у той же час у місті Новоселиця трапилася ще одна пожежа. На території елеваторного комплексу нефункціонуючого підприємства горіла суха трава. Пориви вітру роздмухали вогонь і він перекинувся на складені на території пиломатеріали та господарську будівлю. Вогнеборці 11 державної пожежно-рятувальної частини міста Новоселиця та місцевої пожежної команди села Котелеве ліквідували пожежу на площі 5 га, врятувавши від знищення господарську будівлю. Вогонь пошкодив покриття будівлі, на яке перекинулося полум’я, знищив суху траву та пиломатеріали. За попередніми висновками фахівців, причиною цієї пожежі також стало необережне поводження з вогнем невстановленої особи.
Окрім Новоселицького району, суха трава горіла на Вижниччині, Заставнівщині, Герцаївщині, Сторожинеччині та у місті Чернівці. Також чотири пожежі упродовж доби рятувальники ліквідували у житловому секторі області.
